Shibui Gardens Spa is closed. We no longer have hot tubs or sauna, and no longer in San Anselmo. The Marin Center for Somatic Education was founded by Shibui's owner in 1992 as a private practice which these days has some neuromuscular offerings available on a limited basis . These services are listed on the Description of Services page. Costs are on the Services page. You can also be referred to some of Shibui's trusted therapists who we've worked with over the years or who have a proven track record, Links to their websites are on the next page. There is news of a potential new owner of a Japanese Bath House opening in that space, but nothing is definite yet. Thank you for all these years of wonderful, rewarding, cherished memories. We will always wish the very best for you and your loved ones.

This talk centers on how to add specific principles to your workout to better unlock the epigenetic potential of movement and exercise. Because everything that happens to us is in the body, moving in this way can clear out the data, cache and cookies we don't want.

With unprecedented stress, exhaustion, and burnout rates among college students, young and older workers, an easy remedy is imperative for society to continue in a healthy way. I have one that is evidence-based.

One of the most powerful inevitable experiences in our lives can be transformed into a liberating, compassionate one. A few key death rituals shifted unbearable grief into an expansive, uplifting rite of passage for entire communities and families.

Shibui was started by a group of friends in the 1970s. Two other owners
had it until a group of 6 employees purchased it in 2005. Time passed until eventually, only one owner remained and the original location with hot
tubs, sauna and outdoor gardens was surrendered in 2019 right before the pandemic. Suresha Hill, who was the sole owner since then, has shifted her focus more to teaching and public speaking. What she learned over the years can help countless more people resolve pain, stress, tension and avoid burnout. A little background:
After her time as a School Psychologist, Suresha studied the system on many levels, beginning with the surface psyche, the emotions, the breath, the subconscious, energetic pathways and musculo-skeletal methods. She worked in clinical settings for physical therapists and chiropractors before training in Hanna Somatic Education developed by Dr. Tom Hanna.
This Feldenkrais-based work proved to also be a turning point in for many clients who began achieving greater and more lasting results. While exploring the neuromuscular approach for 35 years, her knowledge base expanded to include other approaches involving muscle energy, manual therapy, vascular, lymphatic, brain, visceral techniques.
Suresha then became certified in the Biodynamic Cranial Sacral approach in 2010 while exploring the subtle manipulation of structure through energy in bone as taught by Dr. Fritz Smith in Zero Balancing, offered a unique influence to working with bones and fulcrums in a deeper way with clients.
Finally, the completion of a training in 2013 with Dr. Steve Sanet through he Ontario College of Ontario led to being a Diplomate in Osteopathic Manipulative Theory and Practice. Through the years she taught several classes in NeuroSomatic Integration, and presented talks and classes in somatic intelligence.
She has also spent many years in dance, martial arts, and various sports, has rehabilitated many of her own injuries and written several books on Somatic Intelligence. These books are intended to continue the legacy of helping to educate the community in self-care and preventive maintenance.

Mental, emotional, and physical well-being are intertwined. The Marin Center For Somatic Education have always supported and encouraged being proactive about your health. Prevention is the best medicine, right alongside self-knowledge.
